Representation

MATA works closely with the Metropolitan Airports Commission, the Minnesota Office of Aeronautics, the Federal Aviation Administration, other trade organizations, and local aviation authorities to address key issues important to Minnesota aviation and our members. MATA is activly involved in lobbying the Minnesota legislature, as well as being heard in Washington D.C. as an affiliate member of the National Air Transportation Association.

With personalized guidance tailored to your unique journey, you can navigate the complexities of the aviation landscape with confidence.

Scholarship

Our annual $1,000 Flight Scholarship opens doors for two aspiring pilots, providing essential funding for training at our trusted MATA member flight schools, ensuring that the next generation of aviators is well-prepared to soar to new heights. Our newly created $1,000 Maintenance Scholarship provides opportunities to Minnesota residents and/or enrolled students at Minnesota colleges learning the trades of aviation maintenance as we continue to help invest in the general aviation workforce in Minnesota.

Conferences

MATA hosts an annual conference allowing membership to engage with MATA Leadership and voice their concerns for aviation in the state. MNDOT Aeronautics Director Ryan Gaug presents an annual update of MNDOT Aeronautics staffing, funding, and project outlook at the conference. The 2026 annual conference will be held Thursday, April 23rd in conjunction with the MCOA Conference at Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, MN.

Communication

The MATA website is kept current with news articles and updates which include important aviation news issues that affect the aviation industry in Minnesota.   Periodic email notices are sent to all members when more timely and urgent member action is needed.

Leadership

MATA officers and directors are industry leaders, providing guidance and counsel to the members.

MATA has a rich history of involvement in Minnesota Aviation, dating back to 1945.
